Quick Tip: Smart Home Devices

Smart homes are becoming increasingly popular with new construction. Justin shares some smart home devices that can help keep your home and family safe.

Smart homes are becoming a very popular option for newer homes. Imagine going into an app and turning up your heat or turning on and off your lights. Five years ago, these types of devices didn’t exist, now it is almost a requirement for new construction. There are some great smart devices that can also help lower your insurance cost.

One new product is called Roost. Roost is a smart device that you place by a water source, such as a hot water heater or washing machine. The device hooks up to your homes Wi-Fi and will alert your cellphone when it detects water. This can reduce the severity of a claim, considering most water damage claims happen when you are away from your home.

There are a few other devices that can help keep your home safe. A Wi-Fi enabled smoke detector will alert you if your homes smoke alarm is going off. A sensor to tell you if your garage door is up or down will help with peace of mind, especially if your garage is attached to your home.

These devices are relatively inexpensive and can help keep your home and family safe. For more information please contact us.
