Historically, homeowners insurance has covered an insured’s liability for dog bites, but the increasing number of incidents has prompted many insurers to exclude certain breeds of dogs. In some cases, homeowners have been unable to purchase coverage, or had their policies cancelled due to the presence of a certain breed. Never withhold information from your insurance agent or carrier as this could result in other claims being denied, or your policy being cancelled.
