There comes a time, however, when a costume choice unfortunately lasts longer than your Halloween haunting. According to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), those decorative eye contacts you would use to look like a Twilight Vampire, or Avatar creature could lead to conjunctivitis (pink eye), corneal scratches or infections, and even blindness in extreme cases. Be sure to buy prescribed contact lenses from an opthalmologist or optometrist. Read the full article for details on where to buy decorative contact lenses (and where not to buy them as well!).

Also be sure to wear flame retardant costumes that are bright and reflective so you will be more visible while walking around at night. If you plan to paint your face, check the FDA list of makeup additives to be that they are FDA approved.

Halloween can be fun and exciting when you are celebrating, but you don’t want to miss work or school because you still look like Captain America.
